Model 1 is adjusted for age, sex, and race‐field center. Model 2 is additionally adjusted for education, occupation, apolipoprotein E, smoking, body mass index, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, use of hypertensive medication, diabetes mellitus, prevalent coronary heart disease, and prevalent heart failure. Model 3 is model 2 and additionally adjusted for prevalent and incident stroke.
