Phosphate increased expression of cardiac hypertrophy markers in myocytes. C2C12 myocytes were differentiated for 72 hours and treated with 7 mM of sodium sulfate (S) or sodium phosphate (Pi) for 12 hours. Expression of cardiac hypertrophy markers (ANP, BNP, β-MHC) and targets of calcineurin/NFAT signaling (NFATc1, RCAN1) were quantitated.
