In GSH-producing legume nodules, reaction 1 occurs in the bacteroids, plastids, and mitochondria, and reaction 2 in the bacteroids, mitochondria, and cytosol. In hGSH-producing legume nodules, reaction 1 occurs in the bacteroids and plastids, reaction 2 in the bacteroids, and reaction 3 in the cytosol and probably also in the plastids. Arrows in discontinuous lines indicate possible contributions of bacteroids and mitochondria to the cytosolic GSH pool and of the plastids to the cytosolic hGSH pool.
