Bacterial strains were grown either separately or together in iron-rich and iron limited media (as represented by the gray diamond), in both the presence and absence of D. discoideum (as represented by the green amoeba). Colors of the petri dish refer to which strain we predict to win the competition between strains based on their competitive abilities as outlined in Table 1. If the petri dishes are colored red we predict Pf2 to win and if colored blue we predict Pf3 to win. When there is no clear prediction petri dishes are colored purple.
