Effects of the initial cell density on TE differentiation. Single zinnia cells were suspended in liquid medium, dispensed into 24-well culture plates at a final volume of 500 μL per well, and incubated at 25°C with shaking at 120 rpm. The TE differentiation frequency for each well was calculated by dividing the number of TEs by the total number of living cells.
