Neuropathological findings: The basal ganglia showed mild atrophy of the caudate nucleus and brown discoloration of the globus pallidus (A). On microscopy, mild chronic neurodegenerative changes (B) and ubiquitin immunoreactive intranuclear inclusions (arrows in C) were observed. The cerebellum was subtly globular in shape (D) and showed focal thinning of the cerebellar cortical granular cell layer (between asterisks in E).
