Proof-of-principle experiment on in situ CDI with a biological sample. Phase images of the fusion of glioblastoma cells reconstructed by in situ CDI. A smaller cell on the right approached a large cell and initiated cell attachment during the first 144 min. Upon attachment, the large cell underwent rapid morphology change and moved left, but the small cell anchored the large cell with thin pseudopodium on the right side of the field of view and began fusing until the 342nd min. The cells showed no motility post fusion, suggesting the occurrence of apoptosis following fusogenic event. Scale bar, 20 µm
