Artocarpin inhibits xenograft tumor growth in SCID mice. (A,B) Mice were subcutaneously injected with U118 cells. When the tumors grew to 100 mm3, the mice were administered artocarpin (2 mg kg-1) or vehicle once daily for 3 weeks. Tumor volume was determined at various times after implantation (n = 8–10). (C) Mouse body weights were measured at various times after tumor implantation. (D) Western blot analyses for Bax, Bcl-2, cleaved caspase-3, cleaved caspase-9, cleaved PARP, phospho-ERK1/2, and phospho-Akt levels in tumors with- and without artocarpin treatment. P < 0.05.
