BrvH incubated with indole and NaBr leads to bromoindole (t_R: 5.2 min) and incubated with NaCl leads to chloroindole (t_R: 4.6 min). Both enzyme products spiked with 3-chloroindole (t_R: 4.6 min) show that the halogenated product of BrvH incubated with indole and NaCl has the same retention time with commercially 3-chloroindole (HPLC method D).
