Ano1 activation promotes apoptosis of human idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension (IPAH) ECs. (A) Ano1 expression in isolated control and pulmonary arterial ECs from lungs of patients with IPAH assessed by immunoblot (n = 2). (B) Both control and IPAH–pulmonary artery ECs isolated from patient lungs were seeded subconfluently and quiesced for 24 hours. Cells were then pretreated as indicated for 1 hour, then treated with 10 μM Eact in serum-reduced conditions for 24 hours, after which cell counts were performed (n = 2 patients, triplicates).
