Cell viability is unaffected by biomaterials. (A) Neonatal cardiomyocytes were seeded on uncoated polystyrene (control), chitosan (CHI)-coated, and polypyrrole:chitosan (PPY:CHI)-coated cell culture dishes for 3 days. Cells were then treated with 0.4% trypan blue to stain dead cells (arrows) and 1:500 dilution of 4',6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI) to label all cells. Images were taken using a fluorescence microscope. (B) Quantification of (A). No significant differences in viability were observed between cells seeded on the three materials (n = 7).
