Figure 3.

Sal pretreatment inhibits the release of IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α in ConA-induced liver injury. (A) Serum IL-6 and TNF-α levels were measured using ELISA kits at 2, 8 and 24 h after ConA injection in mice. (B) Relative mRNA levels of IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α were evaluated in each group by reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction. (C and D) Protein expression of IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α was detected by western blot analysis. (E) Immunohistochemistry was used to detect IL-6 and TNF-α expression in liver tissues (original magnification, ×200). The ratio of brown area to total area was analyzed with Image-Pro Plus software 6.0. Data are presented as the mean + standard deviation (n=6). *P<0.05 vs. NC; #P<0.05 vs. ConA (25 mg/kg); P<0.05 vs. Sal (10 mg/kg) + ConA (25 mg/kg). Sal, salidroside; ConA, concanavalin A; NC, negative control; IL, interleukin; TNF-α, tumor necrosis factor-α.
