The standardized mean difference (SMD) between attending-only and teaching service cohorts across 25 covariates spanning demographic data, initial vital signs, and existing diagnoses. For a given covariate, the SMD is defined as the difference between the mean value for each cohort divided by the pooled standard deviation.
