Distribution of a Boolean function within a multicellular consortium. The Boolean function of interest is decomposed as a disjunction (i.e., sum) of subfunctions (or clauses). Here, as an example, a given function, f, is decomposed into functions f₁, f₂, and f₃. The strains performing f₁, f₂ and f₃ are selected from the strain library to assemble a multicellular consortium computing the desired Boolean function.
