Addition of BcfA to an approved aPV enhances bacterial clearance from the lungs of immunized mice. C57BL/6 mice were immunized i.m. on day 0 and day 28 with 1/5 the human dose of aPV (Boostrix) or 1/5 the human dose of aPV plus 30 μg BcfA (aPV+BcfA) and challenged on days 12 to 14 postboost.
