Incidental focal uptake in the parotid gland. A 71-year-old female had a PET/CT for further characterization of CT abnormalities identified during follow up for previous TCC of the ureter. Focal uptake of FDG (SUVmax 6.0) demonstrated by the arrow on the axial PET only image (a) localizes to the left parotid gland. On the CT only image (c) a soft tissue density nodule is demonstrated in the parotid. This was thought to be incidental rather than related to the TCC and histology from ultrasound-guided biopsy demonstrated a pleomorphic adenoma.
