Leupeptin inhibits Porphyromonas gingivalis‐induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and aggregation in whole blood. Whole blood was incubated for 15 minutes at 37°C in the absence or presence of leupeptin (0.1 mmol/L), then stimulated with P. gingivalis (ATCC, 1 × 107 colony‐forming units [CFU]/mL) for 25 minutes. ROS production was detected by luminol‐amplified chemiluminescence and aggregation was measured as changes in impedance, presented as percentage of P. gingivalis‐stimulated control.
