^a Measurements were made on electron micrographs between the centriole and the centromere of the nearest uncongressed chromosome for each pole where a centriole could be identified. Distances were determined from the minimum separation computed from all possible point pair combinations between sets of eight points chosen along the closest edges of both structures.
