PCB126 inhibits the activation of AMPK-CREB signal transduction and disrupts liver metabolism. Exposure to PCB126 decreases the protein levels and the phosphorylation of AMPK to further inhibit the gluconeogenesis, glycogenolysis and fatty-acid oxidation necessary for physiological homeostasis, during energy depletion.
