General procedure for the synthesis of 4′-substituted
bis(alkanoyloxymethyl)
2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine-6,6″-dicarboxylate.
4′-Substituted
2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine-6,6″-dicarboxylic acid in
DMF was reacted with halomethyl alkanoate in the presence of Et3N or
i-Pr2EtN at 50°C or 60°C. Purification using
SiO2 gel column chromatography afforded 4′-substituted
bis(alkanoyloxymethyl)
2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine-6,6″-dicarboxylate
