(c and d) A schematic of the DNAzyme we have employed and simulation of the relationship between the catalytic activity and dissociation constant of the catalytic group for hemin, which suggests that the observed increase in catalytic activity arises due to an increase in the affinity of the G-quadruplex for hemin. The simulation follows the equation: Kcat = Kmaxcat × [hemin-G]/([hemin-G] + [G-quadruplex]) = Kmaxcat × [hemin]/([hemin] + KD).
