Studies were excluded if they were duplicates, not peer reviewed, did not include consideration of an infectious disease within an incarceration setting, or did not describe a mathematical model that accounted for the dynamics of disease transmission. For studies to be eligible for inclusion, researchers had to have 1) considered an incarceration setting, 2) assessed the transmission dynamics of an infectious disease, and 3) used a dynamic transmission model.
