Bioactivity of hGLuc mRNA incorporated into chitosan-alginate hybrid hydrogels. Chitosan-alginate hydrogels with 4 µg hGLuc mRNA complexed with or without transfection reagent (TR) were generated and 1.5 × 105 HEK293 cells were incorporated. Additionally, hydrogels containing HEK293 cells without mRNA and TR or with TR were produced. The production of hGLuc was determined from 1 to 21 days in medium using luciferase assay.
