Disease response of eight well characterized differential melon genotypes against two known races of powdery mildew fungus Podosphaera xanthii namely, Race N1 and Race 1 collected from six and three different locations, respectively as determined by invitro bioassay using leaf discs after 2 weeks of inoculation. Conidial growth was observed in susceptible cultigens and are indicated by red ‘S’ letter. The layout of leaf discs samples in petri-dishes are shown in right. S, susceptible; R, Resistance. The experiment were repeated five times and similar responses were observed every time.
