Diagnostic criteria of EoE [48]

Presence of symptoms arising from esophageal dysfunction

Biopsy findings ≥15 eosinophils/high-power field under 8-week treatment with proton pump inhibitors (standard single or double dose)

Other causes of esophageal eosinophilia have been excluded (see table 2)
