Concept of the new Ultra-High Temperature Ceramic Matrix Composites (UHTCMCs) class, where the arrows point to the desired objective. By wisely combining qualities of CMCs and UHTCs we would like to achieve an increased erosion/ablation resistance compared to pure CMCs, improved damage tolerance and thermal shock compared to UHTCs and as low as possible specific weight.
