Ultrastructural analysis of trans-complemented UL16 mutants. Vero16 cells expressing HSV-2 UL16 (A and C) and Vero16K cells expressing HSV-1 UL16 (B and D) were infected with UL16SΔ10-360 (A and B) and UL16KΔ28-359 (C and D) at an MOI of 3. At 16 hpi, cells were fixed and processed for TEM as described in Materials and Methods. Numerous nuclear and cytoplasmic capsids can be observed in all the infected cells.
