Reduced diffusion coefficient of a dPS polymer tracer (D/D0) in a silica-polystyrene nanocomposite, plotted against the confinement parameter, namely the interparticle distance, ID=dinter, relative to the tracer size, Rg. Open and closed squares represent experimental data for nanoparticles with number average diameters of 12.8 and 28.8 nm. Employing the interparticle distance estimated from the average number nanoparticle diameter for monodisperse particles, the scaling of D/D0 seems reasonable, although the values for the smaller particles are higher than those for the larger particles.
