Tumor cells produce PGE2 that is sometimes necessary for tumor autonomous cell growth, and at the same time suppresses macrophage activation required for anti-tumor function. Interruption of this cross talk by indomethacin, restores the tumoricidal macrophage function that contributes to limit tumor growth.
