Incidence, mean day of onset and mean maximal score of myelin basic protein 72–85 epitope (MBP72–85)-induced experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) in female Lewis rats, nonvaccinated (control) or vaccinated two days before (prophylactic) and two days after (early therapeutic) induction of EAE, with cyclo(87–99)[Arg91, Ala96]MBP87–99, as shown in three independent experiments (experiments 1–3). Data are also shown (experiment 4) from MBP72–85-EAE in groups of rats that were treated prophylactically 23 days before immunization. Mean day of onset and mean maximal score are presented as mean ± SEM.
