The Bolsa Familia Programme (BFP) [30]
• BFP aims to enhance the human capital of poor Brazilian citizens through an increased utilisation of public services and break the inter-generational transmission of poverty. • With its 46.5 million beneficiaries around the country, BFP is today the largest conditional cash transfer program in the world. • BFP targets extremely poor households earning between US $25–50 per person per month. • Depending on the household composition, the monthly cash benefits range from US $12 to a maximum of few hundreds US dollars depending on household composition. • Transfers are given under three conditions: 1) attendance of prenatal and postnatal monitoring; 2) access to nutrition and vaccination monitoring for their children aged 0–7 years; 3) school attendance. |
