Topical TWEAK promotes the healing of burn wounds. Burn wounds created in the wild-type BALB/c mice were treated with either normal saline (NaCl) or TWEAK solution (20 μg/ml). (A) Burn wounds were monitored on days 0, 3, 7, 14, and 21. (B) The wound areas were measured in the three groups. ∗p < 0.05, compared with the blank and normal saline groups. (C) Illustrations of hematoxylin-eosin-stained sections. (D) The epidermal thickness was determined on these sections, and (E) the number of appendage-like structures was counted accordingly.
