Impact of shock or capsaicin treatment on cell signals associated with pyroptosis. Rats exposed to variable intermittent shock (Shocked) a day after injury exhibited greater expression of caspase-1 (A), IL-1ß (C), and IL-18 (E). Capsaicin treatment had no effect on caspase-1 (B), increased expression of IL-1ß 3 h after treatment (D), and did not have a significant effect on IL-18 (F).
