ELAM ameliorates peritubular capillary (PTC) endothelial cell (EC) injury. Representative double immunofluorescent staining (40X) for pLVAP (green) and terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL), nitrotyrosine, and eNOS (red). The number of PTC EC (pLVAP, green) positive for TUNEL (red) was elevated in MetS, but decreased to normal levels in MetS+ELAM (n=6/group). Treatment with ELAM restored double-immunoreactivity of nitrotyrosine (red) and pLVAP (n=6/group). *p<0.05 vs. Lean, †p<0.05 vs. MetS+ELAM.
