Macrophages Reduced number of IL-12 and TNFα-positive splenic and lung macrophages; increased number of IL-10-positive splenic macrophages (40).
Dendritic cells Reduced number of IL-12 and TNFα-positive splenic and lung dendritic cells; increased number of IL-10-positive splenic dendritic cells (40).
T effector cells Reduced number of TH1 cells with reduced IFNγ production per cell (38,39,40); also reduced influx of IFNγ and TNFα-positive CD4+ and CD8+ T cells into the lungs and spleens (38,40); increased influx of IL-4-positive TH2 cells in the lungs (39); CS also impaired (DNA) vaccinated mice to MTB-specific antigen by reducing the number of antigen-specific TH1 cells (38).
