The estrogen response in total body areal bone mineral density is not mediated via estrogen receptor alpha (ERα) in T lymphocytes. Twelve-week-old Lck-ERα^−/− and control mice were ovariectomized and treated with 17β-estradiol (E2, 167 ng/mouse/day) or placebo (P) for 4 weeks.
