Perspective integrative genomic studies that may contribute to our understanding of molecular mechanisms of heart development and regeneration. The integration of transcriptomic (RNA-seq, scRNA-seq) and epigenetic (chromatin immunoprecipitation followed by high throughput sequencing (ChIP-seq), assay for transposase-accessible chromatin with sequencing (ATAC-seq), HiC, bisulfite sequencing (BS-seq), 5-hydroxymethylcytosine sequencing (5hmc-seq)) studies from model organisms with clinical data from congenital heart disease (CHD) patients (Whole exome sequencing (WES) or targeted genome sequencing) can provide novel insights into our understanding of molecular mechanisms driving heart development and the identification of genetic factors responsible for cardiac developmental anomalies.
