The words “Horizontal” and “Vertical” appear on the bottom left and right sides of the screen, respectively, to remind participants that the left key, ‘f’, corresponds to horizontal targets and the right key, ‘g’, corresponds to vertical targets. The correct answer for both sample trials above is the ‘g’ key because the unique shape (the diamond among circles in both cases) contains a vertical line.
