Table 2. Effects of Khc knockdown and mutations on dendrite arborization.

Measurement Control Khc-RNAi E177K S246F S246F + E177K
Critical radius 178 ± 16 148 ± 30** 141 ± 33** 169 ± 12 (NS) 154 ± 14*
Maximum branches 61 ± 6 49 ± 9*** 39 ± 6**** 57 ± 8 (NS) 61 ± 9 (NS)

Sholl analysis of dendritic arbors quantifies the number of dendrites that intersect concentric circles centered on the cell body. The radius of the circle with the maximum dendritic intersections is the critical radius and the intersections at this radius are the maximum number of branches. Mean ± SD for both measurements; n (neurons) = 14 control, 16 Khc-RNAi, 10 KhcE177K, 14 KhcS246F, 11 KhcS246F,E177K. *, P = 0.05–0.01; **, P = 0.01-0.001; ****, P < 0.0001 in comparison with control and evaluated by one-way ANOVA with Tukey post hoc test.
