(A) Assimilation and partitioning of carbon and nitrogen under N_low. C_prop, and N_prop are the proportions of C and N allocated to root and leaf, respectively in a day from the total uptake. Remaining C and N were allocated to leaf and root, respectively. C_fix/N_fix is the ratio of net carbon fixed during the light (flux of CO₂ transport into leaf during the light phase, CO2_tx_Leaf_Day) to the nitrate uptake in a day (light+dark). (B) Quantum demand (QD) and assimilation quotient (AQ) under N_low and N_high. QD is the ratio of photon required:net CO₂ fixed (Photon_tx_Leaf_Day:CO2_tx_Leaf_Day i.e., ^σP:^σCO₂) and AQ is the net CO₂ fixed:net O₂ released (CO2_tx_Leaf_Day:O2_tx_Leaf_Day).
