Net intake before and after the LPD (white circles) are shown as mean values (with SEM) for five F0 male Wild guinea pigs at eight sampling time points, one before and after the LPD treatment (feeding SMD) and six during LPD from April to June (period shadowed in grey). Monitoring of (A) NPI in gram per kilogram of body mass, and (B) NEI in kilojoule per kilogram of body mass resulted in decreased protein and energy uptake with the start of LPD, which quickly re-adjusted with the reintroduction of SMD pellets.
