Targeting of three susceptibility genes by multiple TAL effectors is shown. Not included in the figure, OsERF#123 is also induced by Tal3c from Xoc strain BLS256 upon binding to two EBEs, different from the one bound by TalB [61]. Genes are indicated as arrows, black horizontal lines correspond to the promoter region of the gene, and the distance of the targeted EBEs to the annotated translation start site is shown. EBE sequences are shown color-coded by nucleotide, and RVD sequences of TAL effectors are shown color-coded according to their nucleotide specificity. A vertical line between a nucleotide and an RVD highlights a match. To the left is indicated by YES instances where there is evidence that the corresponding gene is induced by the TAL effector, and by NO instances where there is no such evidence.
