Statistics: Mann-Whitney test was used for continuous parameters and χ2 test for classified parameters when each fatty liver group was compared to controls (NL group). P < 0.001 for all other comparisons, except smoking (FL p = 0.209, NAFL p = 0.548 and AFL p = 0.022) and alcohol consumption (NAFL p = 0.192).
