In the process of cartilage enlargement, knockout of Egr1 in chondrocytes disrupts the dynamic equilibrium of chondrocyte extracellular matrix. The inhibition of Egr1 on PPARγ and the inhibition of PPARγ on RUNX2 were relieved, which lead to upregulation of the enzyme genes related to chondrocyte extracellular matrix degradation and affect skeletal development.
