Activation of the iNOS pathway with age. Production of nitric oxide via iNOS was predicted to increase in aged neurons. Two transcriptional activators of iNOS, MAPK and NF-Κb, increased expression (padj≤0.05). A third, STAT1, was predicted by IPA to have increased expression. High concentrations of nitric oxide have been implicated in aging and may result in increased DNA damage, apoptosis, and neuronal death
