Classical Conditioning with STDP synapse between Npre and Npost: An unconditioned stimulus (US) A or B causes the post-synaptic neuron Npost to fire. The conditioned stimulus (CS) firing shortly before its associated US will adjust its weights so that Npost will fire even in the absence of US. Due to the Hebbian learning rule, the synaptic weight is unchanged when the other, unrelated stimulus causes Npost to fire.
