Mechanical loading, but not breast cancer cell-derived soluble factors, increased MLO-Y4 dendrite formation. (A,C) Fluorescent images of MLOs suggested that fluid shear stress alone increased dendrite formation, but treatment with tumor-conditioned media (TCM) alone did not. (Scale bars = 100 μm; blue = DAPI, red = phalloidin) (B) Image analysis revealed that mechanical loading increased the number of dendrites per MLO, which was achieved via a similar increase in overall dendrite quantity.
