FEL of a. Ng α-CA, b. Ssp α-CA, and c. mutant Ng α-CA. Coloring pattern defines the energy distribution; blue and red defines the conformational space of a protein with minimum energy (stable state) and maximum energy (unstable state), respectively. Intermediate color patterns highlight the other transient local energy states. Energy landscape follows similar pattern like PCA; i.e., the more spread the landscape is, the more unfolded is the protein.
