Novel SCCmecIVn. Sequence comparison of regions of homology between SCCmecII and IV elements from isolates Mu3 (green), ST93 JDK6519 (purple), and the new consensus SCCmecIVn from ST93 (blue). Mu3 carries SCCmecII and mec complex A, JKD6159 SCCmecIVa and mec complex B, and the novel SCCmecIVn is also mec complex B. Inner rings denote coding regions (orange – transposition; red – resistance; dark gray – SCCmec characteristic regions orfX, mec cassette and ccr complex; light gray – other). Chords denote major regions (mec, ccr, pUB110) defined by nucleotide BLAST comparisons (>99% identity and >1 kb) of SCCmecII and IV elements against the SCCmecIVn.
