Nitrite oxidation kinetics of “Ca. Nitrotoga fabula.” Nitrite oxidation rates were calculated from microsensor measurements of nitrite-dependent O2 consumption. The curve indicates the best fit of the data to the Michaelis-Menten kinetic equation. The protein concentration used to calculate Vmax was 46.1 mg/liter. The experiment was performed with biomass concentrated by centrifugation. Data from three additional biological replicates are shown in Fig. S2 in the supplemental material.
